A t some point or another, you may stop and ask yourself, “What is seasonal fashion?” It’s a valid question, considering the value placed on fashion looking put together in every circle of life. Seasonal fashion refers to using the four seasons, and other climatic changes, as a guide to dressing up or dressing down. Temperature, mood, and colors are the main features that dictate seasonal fashion.
Spring
When it comes to spring, you already know there will be lots of flowers involved. Spring generally sees calmer and more pleasant weather, with a slight bit of rain depending on the area you live in. Since most flowers bloom in spring, floral prints become quite common. Spring is the perfect time to break out those pretty pastels that you’ve been keeping in your closet.
The climate might be a little warm, but not too hot to make it unpleasant. When spring starts, it will be slightly chilly, while towards the end it will grow to be warmer as summer approaches. This means that you can start with wearing long coats or full-sleeved tops, but you may have to move to lighter fabrics. Wear all the energetic colors you want, and choose whichever accessory you see fit!
Summer
When it comes to fashion, summer definitely allows us to experiment more than spring does. The climate is hot, and everyone is sweaty, so picking an outfit becomes more dependent on whether you will be seated in air conditioning or you will have a day roaming the streets. Heading to the beach will mean summer fashion can consist of many bathing outfits such as two pieces and bikinis.
Summer fashion has light fabrics and light colors since they trap less heat. Stay away from fabrics such as cambric and wool, as these are thicker and make you feel very hot. Casual outfits are much more widely accepted in summer than in winter, so feel free to wear your favorite pair of flip-flops and shorts, but not to work! T-shirts, slippers, and loose clothing are your friends in summer.
Fall
Fall is super bold when it comes to colors. You can embody deep maroons, oranges, and other bold colors as you see fit. If you like, incorporate darker colors such as black to create contrast while staying in the matching color palette. Browns, of all shades, are typically worn in autumn.
Clothing items such as long coats, jackets, boots, and thicker shirts are all worn during fall. Layering is not just fashionable but also practical in fall, but do not go overboard as daytime tends to be warmer than the night during fall. Fall fashion is very dependent on the time that you need an outfit for, as the weather is quite moody and changes multiple times a day.
Winter
Obviously, winter is the coldest time of the year. By virtue of the temperature, fashion obviously means many layers and a lot of thick clothing. This is the time when you can bring out all your clothes, including summer ones, and layer them using thick under-clothing to make it look fashionable. High boots look great, but if you prefer sneakers, you can pair them with cute socks as well.
Winter has a lot of accessories to choose from. If you don’t feel like doing your hair, simply put on a thick wool hat, and you’ll be good to go. Caps, stockings, mittens, and shawls are all great accessories that you can use to elevate your winter outfit while making sure you keep warm. If you tend to get migraines when it’s freezing, consider investing in a good pair of earmuffs to keep your ears from catching a cold.
Precipitation
Rain is not technically a season, but “rainy season” does exist. Changing your outfits in accordance to whether it will rain is a good idea if the area you’re in is going through a rain spell or something such as a monsoon. Avoid open-toe shoes to make sure you don’t get your feet wet, and preferably wear some sturdy non-fabric, and impermeable shoes such as leather boots or rain boots.
Make sure you do not wear light colors as they can easily become spotted due to the rain, and they may even turn see-through, which might become a wardrobe malfunction. Keep an umbrella with you whenever you go out, and if you’re carrying a bag, it won’t hurt to keep a raincoat with you as well. So, now you know the answer to “What is seasonal fashion?” We hope you can put it to good use.
